Important Points

Crystallization involves the preparation of saturated solution of the given compound in a suitable solvent at a temperature below its boiling point.
Sublimation is employed for those subtances which change directly from solid to gas on heating and on cooling back to solid. It is employed for those substances which have high vapour pressure at normal atmospheric pressure eg. Camphor, Indigo, Benzoic Acid, Naphthalene etc.,
Involves conversion of a liquid into its vapours by heating and condensing the vapours to liquid by cooling.
Solvent Extraction
Is the process of separating an organic compound from its aqueous solution by shaking it with a suitable organic solvent. The solvent should be immiscible with water and the organic compound to be separated distributes itself between two non miscible solvents at a constant temperature in a definite ratio. Multiple extraction is more effective than a single step extraction.
In it the solid in a horizontal tube is slowly moved through a heating apparatus. In this way, a relatively narrow zone of solid is liquified. When this zone is moved out of the heater, the pure solid separates out and the impurities remain in solution
