Tips and Tricks on Chemical Bonding

There has been complete transfer of an electron from one atom to another. When the transfer is complete, the atoms are converted to ions. When ions come together, electrostatic attraction holds cation (positive charge) and anions (negative charge) together and an Ionic bond is thus formed.

Due to stability of lattice, ionic compounds have high melting and boiling points.
