Let actual angle of dip be delta. Let alpha be the angle by which needle is deflected. tan30=tan delta/cos alpha 1 tan45= tan delta/ cos (90-alpha). 2 From 1 and 2 Equating tan delta Writing cos (90-alpha) as sin alpha, tan delta is 1/2 hence delta is tan inverse 1/2
