Why zinc is why cant the other one

Why zinc is anode why cant ag

because it is cell representation and it is fixed that the left is anode and vise versa

if the equation was Ag/Ag+2//Zn+2/Zn then Ag /Ag+2 acts as anode

Ok. If E° cr+3/cr=--0.74 v ,E° cd+2/cd=--0.40 v and the reaction is 2cr(s)+ 3cd+2(aq)---->2cr+3(aq) + 3cd(s). Find ∆G°

here cr acts as anode and cd as cathode so you can find E° by formula E°cell=E°cathode - E°anode now find ∆G°=-nFE°cell
