Exam Pattern


The Examination would consist of one paper containing 180 objective type questions (four options with single correct answer) from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) to be answered on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen provided by CBSE at examination centre only.

The duration of test is 03:00 hours

Question weightage:
  • Physics: 45 Questions
  • Chemistry: 45 Questions
  • Biology: 90 Questions(includes Botany & Zoology)


Some important highlights related to NEET-UG 2017 exam pattern is given below:
  • Mode: The exam was conducted in offline mode (pen and paper based mode).
    The question paper was in the OMR pattern.
  • Negative Marking: One mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • No of Questions: The question paper comprised of total 180 questions.
  • Marking Scheme: The questions were of objective type and each question carried four marks for each correct response.
  • Language: NEET was conducted in 10 (ten) languages, including Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Oriya, Tamil, Telugu, English and Hindi.
