AB is a variable line sliding between the co-ordinates axes in such a way that A lies on X-axis and B lies on Y-axis. if P is a variable point on AB such that PA=b, PB=a, AB=a+b, then equation of locus on P is ?

take pts A and B as (x,0) and (0,y).

1.find P using section formula

2.find eqn. of AB.

3.Satisfy P in above eqn.

Let locus be (x,y). Let A & B be (h,0) (0,k). now use section formulae for A & B to get P in terms of h and k. Convert it to x y. Now substitute in line eq to gt locus.
