Can anyone tell me the exact definition of mutation?

According to what i have read so far,:
"Mutation is the alteration in chromosome structure and also an alteration in genes due to a change in DNA composition. It provides new alleles and therefore, underlines all other mechanisms that produce variations, the raw material for evolution".

mutations are sudden , random ,inheritable changes in the genetic make up of an individual.
