Geetanjali Offline | Posted on : 11:50:39 AM on September 20, 2010 these are called transition elements because they have incomplete subshells in any common oxidation state. i.e. partially filled d and f subshells. by the way f block elements are commonly called inner transition elements where as d block elements are actually transition elements. there are some exceptions though |
